Make your own pacifier chain with a name (DIY)

You need:

The clip is used to attach the baby toy or pacifier chain.

Motif beads

Motif beads are the perfect accessory for your individual pacifier chain.

Wooden beads

With the wooden beads and wooden lenses, your craft will be colorful and the homemade pacifier chain will take shape.

Step 1: Assemble the beads

Place the beads in the order in which you imagine the pacifier chain (with or without a name). You can already align the beads on a needle or wire. The last wooden bead, at the end with the loop, should be a safety bead so that the knot can disappear in the hole later. The pacifier chain can be personalized with different beads.

The name can be added to the pacifier chain with letter beads. According to the law and for the safety of the child, a pacifier chain must not exceed a length of 22 cm (measured without the pacifier clip).

Step 2: Preparation

Double the cord so that both cords are approx. 30 cm long. Thread the string into the needle and attach the string with a knot to the loop of the string - i.e. the center of the pacifier chain string. It also works without a needle, depending on what works better for you.

Step 3: Stringing the wooden beads

Now the wooden beads, wooden lenses and letter beads are threaded on with the needle. Attach the safety bead at the end of each bead and the pacifier adapter if necessary. The needle and thread can then be removed from the string.

Step 4: Knotting the ends

Now tie a knot on the side with the loop and thread the beads up to the knot. The knot now disappears into the larger part of the hole in the safety bead - so pay attention to the different sides of the safety bead.

Then make a half knot with the 2 ends on the other side. Then thread on the clip and fasten it with a double knot. Then carefully cut the two ends of the cord with scissors until just before the knot and weld them together with a lighter. It is important to weld the knot securely, as even your little ones can pull hard on it.

Step 5: Testing the safety

We strongly recommend carrying out a tear test or tensile test to check whether the knot is holding securely - better safe than sorry! Pull on the pacifier chain with force. The pacifier chain should be able to withstand the force of an adult hand.

According to the law and for the safety of the child, a pacifier chain should not exceed a length of 22 cm without the pacifier clip!

Now the pacifier chain is ready and you can attach the pacifier to the loop or adapter . For pacifiers without a clip or ring, you will need a silicone ring - i.e. a pacifier adapter - to attach it to the pacifier chain . Have fun!

When is a pacifier chain safe?

There are legal requirements for pacifier chains that you should always adhere to. While the toy standard is particularly important for baby toys such as grasping toys, teething rings and mobiles, the European standard EN 12586 applies specifically to pacifier chains. This regulates the shape and length of the chains and how they may be composed in terms of material. So if you want to make and sell pacifier chains yourself, they must be manufactured very carefully and in compliance with all legal regulations. Here we tell you what makes our high-quality pacifier chain material really safe and what you should look out for if you want to make baby toys or a pacifier chain yourself.

What safety requirements must pacifier chains meet?
